Membership

Recognized as the national advocate for hospitals and the communities and patients they serve, the AHA works with its members; state, regional, and metropolitan associations; and other organizations to shape and influence federal legislation and regulation to improve the ability of its members to deliver high-quality health care.

The AHA ensures that the unique needs of its various constituencies are heard and addressed in national health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates, and judicial matters.

AHA institutional membership encompasses approximately 5,000 hospitals, health care systems and other providers of care. Through our representation and advocacy activities, the AHA ensures that members’ perspectives and needs are heard and addressed in national health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates, and judicial matters. Our advocacy efforts focus on the legislative and executive branches and include the legislative and regulatory arenas.
